William R. Gibbons Obituary

William R. Gibbons, 74, of Palmer Township, Pa., peacefully departed his life on January 4, 2024 at LVHN-Muhlenburg, surrounded by his loving family. He was the best friend and husband of Denise (Baratta) Gibbons, sharing more than 43 years of a phenomenal marriage. Born in Bethlehem, PA, he was the son of the late John P. and Lena Gibbons. Bill was a graduate of Liberty High School, class of 1967, attended the University of Tennessee and graduated from East Stroudsburg University. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He spent his professional career as an Educational Consultant with IU 20 and as the Education – Employment Liaison at Easton High School until his retirement. He loved his classic cars, Triumph motorcycles, spending time with his close friends on the golf course and always looked forward to traveling to warm & sunny destinations with his wife and family, especially Aruba and Bethany Beach, DE. Bill was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, son-in-law, brother-in-law and fiercely loyal friend. He leaves behind a legacy of love and family and will be fondly remembered by: Sons – Josh and Jesse; Brother – Petch; Sisters – Kathleen Sherman and Michelle; Other family members – Louise Baratta, Pam Baratta, Paula and Jeff Sella , Robert Baratta and Julie Rautio ; Niece – Maggie Gibbons and Nephews – Jack Gibbons and Marc, Alex, Nicholas and Jayson Sella. Bill was a life-long member of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church in Palmer Township. Calling hours will be held on Thursday January 11, 2024 from 10 am to 12 noon at The Finegan Funeral Home, 4080 William Penn Highway, Palmer Twp., Pa. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers please make donations to “Tunnel 2 Towers” at t2t.org.
