Gerald McCreery Obituary

Gerald A. (“Jerry”) McCreery, 82, passed away peacefully on Monday March 4th, 2024, surrounded by his immediate family.

Born on May 3rd, 1941 in Spangler, PA, Jerry was the son of Lester & Grace McCreery.

Jerry proudly served in the armed forces during the early 1960’s and was a Sergeant in the United States Army. During his time serving our country, Jerry was responsible for determining the precise location of targets for the weapons and artillery division. He achieved two marksman level grades on different rifles. He would tell countless stories about his time in the service and how proud he was to be part of it.

Having grown up on a farm in western Pennsylvania, he had an appreciation and respect for nature and learned to live off of the land.  As a young man, Jerry enjoyed spending Saturday mornings with his father Les, fishing the local streams for rainbow trout. Additionally, he was an avid hunter and loved to hunt for ringneck pheasants and deer well into his later years.

Jerry worked at Kimberly Clark Corporation in Spotswood, NJ, for over 35 years. He started his career as a machinist and then became a certified millwright. He thoroughly enjoyed working with his hands and problem solving, and eventually went back to school to earn his certification as a commercial/industrial electrician. Jerry was always loved by his coworkers, many of whom became close friends throughout the years.

As an avid football fan, he loved the Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles, and would joust with his family during football season about which team he really loved the most.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife Barbara, his two sons Adam & Keith, their wives Debbie & Maria, his grandchildren; Zachary, Tyler, Michael, Jacob, Caitlin, Steven and Brayden and his great grandson, Giovanni (Gio). He is also survived by his sister, Judy Charney.

Jerry’s celebration of life will be held with a Viewing Friday evening, March 8th, 2024, from 5-8pm at the Finegan Funeral Home, 4080 William Penn Highway, Easton, PA. An additional Viewing Period is then set for the following morning, Saturday, March 9th, 2024, from 10-11am, at the funeral home, with a Funeral Service to directly follow. After the service, Jerry will be laid to rest at the Northampton Memorial Shrine, 3501 Green Pond Road, Easton, PA.
