Elizabeth “Betty” Blanche Foose Shoemaker, 92, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on March 19, 2026.
Born on August 21, 1933, in Easton, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Donald Schlabach and Blanche Dickey Schlabach.
Betty was a spirited and vibrant young girl who loved the outdoors. As a child, she could often be found playing outside with friends, confidently teaching the neighborhood boys how to play baseball and football. She carried that same strength, intelligence, and determination throughout her life.
A bright and capable student, Betty grew into a devoted and resilient mother. As a single mother of four, she demonstrated unwavering strength, independence, and love, always putting her children first and guiding them with both discipline and compassion.
Betty retired from Warren Hospital in 1998 and she was a volunteer for many years with the Forks Township Emergency Squad.
She will be remembered as a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose presence brought warmth, wisdom, and a bit of spark to all who knew her.
Betty is survived by her loving children: Judith Bakun, Robert “Bob” Foose and his partner, Dee; and Patrick “Pat” Foose and his wife, Mendy. She is also survived by her sister, Gertrude “Trudie” Grandinetti, along with many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as extended family and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul “Skip” Shoemaker; her son, Timothy “Tim” Foose, her son-in-law, Richard Bakun and her brother-in-law, Saul Grandinetti, Jr.
Betty’s legacy lives on in the strength of her family, the values she instilled, and the memories shared by those who loved her.
