Beatrice E. Zarbatany, 77, of Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 5, 2026.
Born on February 19, 1949, in Camden, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Betty (Bixler) Luchtman.
Bea graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Camden, NJ and attended classes at Rutgers University. Her marriage to Chafik (Steve) brought her to Phillipsburg. Living in Phillipsburg, she was an office secretary at Peter P. Dennis and then moved on to be a teller and then management at Phillipsburg National Bank. Bea and Chafik then started a family, and Bea became a stay-at-home mom. Her time was spent on field trips, PTA meetings, homework, and baking delicious snacks. Bea decided after the children were grown to return to work and she chose to do what she does best, help others. She became a teacher’s aide for students with disabilities at WCSSSD. In retirement she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother to the two best grandchildren ever made. Bea will be remembered for her caring spirit, strong work ethic and unwavering devotion to those she loved.
Bea is survived by her husband of 57 years, Chafik Zarbatany, Jr., her children, Brian C. Zarbatany, of Allentown, PA and Jaimee Walters and her husband, Jason, of Bethlehem, PA, her grandchildren, Tim and Ava, her siblings; Joan Rosenfeld, Carol Eisenberg, Carl Luchtman and Richard Luchtman and her many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Bea was predeceased by her sister, Betty Luchtman.
Services are to be held privately. The Finegan Funeral Home, of Easton, PA, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Donations may be made, in Beatrice’s name, to the American Diabetes Association, via diabetes.org.
