About Us
Every life carries its own story. At Finegan Funeral Home, we honor that story with care shaped by more than a century of tradition, grounded in reverence and quiet devotion.
Our Heritage
Finegan Funeral Home traces its roots to 1908, when Daniel Paul Curran opened a mortuary in Easton, Pennsylvania. A dedicated craftsman and student of the profession, Mr. Curran was known not only for his technical excellence, but for his quiet commitment to service, faith, and the community he loved.
In 1983, the funeral home was purchased by James T. Finegan, Sr., becoming the Curran-Finegan Funeral Home. James was the son of John T. Finegan, who, in 1931, had founded Finegan Funeral Home in Phillipsburg, New Jersey. Carrying forward his father’s vision, James expanded the family’s tradition of service across the Delaware River and into Easton.
Today, we carry forward the Curran and Finegan legacy with a steady hand and open heart. From our Palmer Township location, we offer funeral services rooted in long-standing tradition and built on relationships of trust.

Stewards of Legacy and Care
For four generations, the Finegans have served with presence, reverence, and quiet strength.
John M. Finegan, Sr. brings over four decades of experience in funeral service and community care. Known for his quiet steadiness and deep respect for tradition, John Sr. continues the family legacy with compassion and integrity.
John M. Finegan, Sr. Bio
For John Sr., funeral service has always been more than a profession—it’s a continuation of a family story that spans generations in the region. With deep roots in the community and a heart for tradition, John Sr. brings both a steady hand and a compassionate presence to the families he serves.
Golf has been a through-line in his life, a bond passed from father to son and now shared with his wife on their many travels. Beyond the fairway, his truest joy is found in the presence of his eleven grandchildren, whose energy, humor, and growing lives have reshaped his view of what really matters. He’s often on the floor playing with them, fully present, heart wide open.
A lover of music and film, he has a soft spot for old movie classics and the timeless sounds of the Great American Songbook, whose tunes shaped the soundtrack of his youth. His life is woven with melody—from Broadway tunes to rock and roll—always playing in the background, marking moments big and small.
With a family lineage in the Lehigh Valley going back eight generations, John has never questioned where he belongs. He can point to the very streets where his ancestors lived, the churches they worshiped in, and the cemetery where they rest. This sense of continuity shows up in the work he does today, supporting families who often span generations themselves, sometimes returning after decades because of a lasting trust.
In recent years, John embraced a more reflective way of living. What emerged is a renewed commitment to mindfulness, kindness, and presence. This shift has transformed how he moves through the world, infusing his work and relationships with new depth and grace.
As he puts it, “I used to get upset over small things. Now I find myself helping instead of reacting. It’s made my world better—and I hope it helps others feel that way, too.”
Whether coordinating a funeral, playing golf, or simply listening to a story from long ago, he brings with him a quiet integrity and a reverence for legacy. For him, it’s never been just about the business—it’s about the people, the towns, and the enduring relationships that make it all matter.
John M. Finegan, Jr. carries the torch of the family business into a new generation. A United States Marine Corps veteran, John brings strength, humility, and unwavering presence to his work with grieving families. He supports each service with a grounded approach and a deep respect for ritual and remembrance.compassion and integrity.
John Finegan, Jr., Funeral Director Bio
John Jr. didn’t grow up dreaming of becoming a funeral director, but life, with its mysterious timing, led him here. What he’s discovered along the way is that this work, done with heart, can become a quiet kind of calling.
John was born and raised in the Lehigh Valley and continues to serve the community where his family’s legacy runs deep. He doesn’t see himself as “in charge” of a funeral, but rather as a companion, someone willing to show up in the hardest moments and carry part of the weight when others can’t. It’s simply what he believes in: doing the right thing with decency and care.
Before funeral service, John served in the United States Marine Corps, a formative chapter that deepened his appreciation for simplicity, clarity, and human connection. Time in Afghanistan reshaped his perspective on life, and today, he honors those lessons by approaching each day with humility and authenticity.
John’s heart lives with his family. Time with his wife and children is where he feels most himself: steady, grateful, whole. He also finds peace in nature, often with a fishing rod in hand, honoring a quiet tradition passed down through generations. Music fills him in a different way, especially live performances with a soulful, bluesy edge that speaks to something deep and true.
In a profession often misunderstood, John is the kind of funeral director who doesn’t need to say much to say a lot. He listens. He shows up. He walks beside. For John, it’s about duty—being there when it matters most, and shouldering what he can so others don’t have to carry it alone.
