Beatrice M. Finnen Obituary

Beatrice (Lehan) Finnen, 93 of Easton, PA, passed away peacefully, after a brief illness.

Bea was born on December 14, 1932 to Neil and Catherine Lehan and raised on Long Island, NY.  She was a proud graduate of State University of New York (SUNY) Albany and Hofstra University with degrees in education and English. She continued her learning, taking courses in library science in the Lehigh Valley.

At SUNY, she met her husband Jim and they shared 69 joy-filled years of marriage.  After marrying in 1957, they moved to Bennington, Vermont.  In 1961, they relocated to Easton where they established many friendships, especially through Saint Jane’s parish, Lafayette College and the various neighborhoods where they lived.   She enjoyed many vacations with her family and friends in Beach Haven, NJ, Hilton Head, SC, Williamsburg, VA and numerous towns in Florida. She had a love of language arts, was a voracious reader, loved reading to the children and grandchildren, and was known for making up fun “nonsense” words.  She was a volunteer in reading for the blind, volunteered with St. Francis Friary and was also a member of the AAUW and URW organizations.

She will be remembered for her quiet strength, patience, unwavering faith and wonderful sense of humor. Her memory will live on in all of the lives she touched and the love she gave so freely.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband Jim, her children, Jim (wife Joan), Kathy Fackenthal (husband Bruce), John and Maureen Finnen as well as her grandchildren Jim (wife Liz), Erin Fackenthal, great-grandson Christian and sisters, Cathi Kester and Judith Volk, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Dr. Patrick Lehan and her granddaughter, Laurel Finnen.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Finegan Funeral Home, 4080 William Penn Highway, Easton, PA, with a Mass of Christian Burial scheduled for 10:30 AM on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at the St. Jane Frances de Chantal Church, 4049 Hartley Ave, Easton, PA. The interment will then be at the Northampton Memorial Shrine, Easton, PA.

Donations may be made, in Bea’s name, to the Easton Area Public Library – Palmer Branch, 1 Weller Pl, Easton, PA 18045.

Please wear yellow in her memory.
