Bridget Cecilia (nee Crerand) Middleton

Bridget Cecilia (nee Crerand) Middleton died on Saturday, January 13, 2024 in Easton, PA.

Bridget, or Bridie as everyone called her, was born on January 23, 1942 in Drumhalla, a small town in Rathmullan, County Donegal, Ireland. She was the youngest of 7 children. Shortly after she was born, as a result of WWII, her family moved to Scotland, where she was raised in Clyde Bank, near Glasgow. She never lost her Scottish accent which people just loved listening too.

She emigrated to the United States in 1963. She settled in Kearny, NJ and began working at Prudential Insurance in Newark, NJ where she met her future husband, John Middleton. They married in 1965 and had 3 children. There were married for 51 years until his death in 2016.

Bridie was a cherished mother, wife, aunt, sister, and, her happiest role of all, a Mimi to her grandchildren. Family and faith were her closest companions. She was from a large Irish family and it was very important to her to keep her family connected and instill her Irish roots. For decades she hosted Christmas, New Years and Easter so that all her nieces and nephews (from both sides of the family) could form a bond that is still strong today. She became a sister to all of her in-laws…and there were many!

She loved to play and watch tennis and golf and spent many years traveling and playing both with her husband, including playing Pebble Beach and St. Andrews. It was always a bonding experience for her to golf with her children.

Bridie was a member of the Catholic Church. Her faith provided comfort to her during many challenging times but she knew God was always with her.

Bridie is survived by her son John and daughter-in-law, Michelle of Richmond, VA. Their children, Kathryn, of Atlanta, GA, and Griffin, of New York, NY. Her son Michael and daughter-in-law Elizabeth, of Easton PA. And her daughter Maura of Santa Cruz, CA.

There will be a Viewing from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 17, at the Finegan Funeral Home, 4080 William Penn Highway, Easton, PA. The Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 18, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Roman Catholic Church, 4049 Hartley Avenue, Easton, PA. The Graveside Service is then going to be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday , January 19, at the Rocky Hill Cemetery, Skillman, NJ, where Bridie will be joining her husband, John.
