Carla M. Norris Obituary

Carla Marie (Baer) Norris went Home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at the age of 74.  Born on December 14, 1949 in York PA, she was the daughter of the late Sterling Eugene and Velma Wenger (Burkholder) Baer.

She was a 1967 graduate of West York High School, where she first met her future husband, Philip Gordon Norris.  They attended the same junior and senior high schools and participated in the Bible Club together.  She worked at Mailman’s Department Store.  She received a diploma from the York Bible Training Institute on June 4, 1979.  Years later after Phil attended Wheaton College and Dallas Seminary, they met again at Christian Light Bookstore where Carla worked for many years in the music department.  They were married on June 28, 1980 at Carla’s church, Faith Bible Fellowship Church in York PA, and shared 43 wonderful years together.  They were the proud parents of their twin daughters, Rachel Elizabeth and Angela Marie.

Carla loved all things related to the Bible Fellowship Church.  She had many fond memories of camp meetings at Mizpah Grove, working at Pinebrook Bible Conference as a young adult, and attending summer Bible conferences, women’s retreats, and annual conferences at Pinebrook.  She taught herself to play the organ and enjoyed serving as the organist at Faith BFC.  Over the years, she was also involved in the Missions Committee, Vacation Bible School, and Sunday School teacher.  During Phil’s ten-year ministry at Bethany BFC in Mount Carmel PA, she was a devoted pastor’s wife and enjoyed using her gift of hospitality.  She sang in the choir at both Faith BFC in York and Bethany BFC in Mt Carmel and enjoyed participating in many Christmas and Easter cantatas over the years

Until we are all together again, she leaves behind her husband Phil Norris; daughter Rachel (Dan) Marks of Easton with grandsons Joshua, Jacob, Nathaniel, and Benjamin; daughter Angela (Andrew) Eia of Japan with grandsons Graham, Elliot, and Kanzo; sister Rose Lindstrom; brother-in-law Jerry and wife Joan Norris; five nephews and one niece and their families.

She is now reunited with her parents Sterling and Velma Baer; sister Jane and brother-in-law Ted Gordon; brother-in-law Al Lindstrom; sister Gloria Baer; and grandchildren Gabe and Shiloh Marks and Hudson Eia.
