Domenico “Domenic” Pallante passed away on November 18, 2025 in his home in Lopatcong, N.J. He was 96 years old.
Domenic was preceded in death by his wife Addolorata “Dolores” Pallante. He is survived by his three daughters and their spouses: Michela Kinney and Benjamin Kinney, Donna Herzer and Richard Herzer and Lisa Pallante and Robert Mutchler; his six grandchildren and their spouses: Christina Michalik and Jonathan Michalik, Danielle Underwood and Michael Underwood, Richard Herzer Jr. and Kristen Herzer, Rachel Herzer, Kayla Mutchler and Christopher Kinney; seven great-grandchildren: Riley, Carter, Domenico, Austin, Michael, Ellie and Lorata; and many nieces and nephews.
Born November 1, 1929 in Monteroduni (Molise), Italy, he was the son of the late Michela Guglielmi and Clementino Pallante, and had three siblings. Rosario and Anna preceded him in death, and he is survived by Leonardo and his wife Maria.
At 19 years old, Domenico enlisted in the Italian Army, in which he received a sharpshooter’s certificate. Following his service, he became a barber, and later married Addolorata D’Itri on February 7, 1959, in their shared hometown.
Domenic and Dolores moved to the U.S. in 1961 — first to Newark and then to Maplewood, N.J. — where they raised their daughters. In 1998, after his retirement, Domenic and Dolores moved to Lopatcong, N.J.
Domenic loved the outdoors and took pride in taking care of nature, shown through his 40 years of work with the Maplewood Department of Public Works, the pristine lawn he kept and the lavish garden he and his wife cultivated. They enjoyed spending time with their family, helping raise their grandchildren and watching Italian television programs at night.
Calling hours will be held on Friday November 21, 2025 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at Finegan Funeral Home at 4080 William Penn Hwy in Easton, Pa. Entombment will be at a later date at Gate of Heaven in East Hanover, NJ.
