James F. Hughes

James “Jim” Hughes, 76, of Lewes, Delaware, passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025 after an illness.

Jim was born on December 7, 1948, in Pottsville, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Edward and Margaret Donahue Hughes.

He graduated from Notre Dame High School (Green Pond) and DeSales University before beginning his professional journey as a teacher at Phillipsburg Catholic High School, later transitioning into human resources. Over the years, he served as an HR Manager at several companies in the Philadelphia area, where he was known for his dedication, fairness, and ability to connect with people.

More than anything, Jim cherished time with his family and close friends. He made a thoughtful effort to be present at every family event, big or small, and found joy in sharing meals, conversation, and connection. He loved traveling, a good cocktail, took pride in sampling new cuisines, and found happiness in the simple pleasures of life.

Jim was predeceased by his parents and brother Edward. He is survived by his five siblings: Margaret Pizzino (Joe), Kathleen Kaplan (Fred), Mike (Joan), Tom (Louise) Joe (Joy)and Lucille Hughes sister-in-law, along with many nieces, nephews, their children, and a wide circle of wonderful friends. He was loved dearly, and we will miss him deeply.
