John Valentine McDonough

John Valentine McDonough, 84, of Easton, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 20, 2026. He was the devoted husband of Noreen (Mulligan) McDonough, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage. Born on February 14, 1942, in Easton, he was the son of the late Stephen McDonough and Mary (Diamond) McDonough, and stepson of Mary (Dinan) McDonough.

John proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force, a commitment that reflected the same sense of duty, discipline, and integrity he carried throughout his life.

He built a life defined by hard work, loyalty, and a deep love for the outdoors. He founded and operated McDonough Landscaping, where his dedication, craftsmanship, and pride in a job well done earned him the respect of countless clients and friends. He later continued his passion for the outdoors through years of work at Northampton Country Club and Saucon Valley Country Club, as well as dedicated service to St. Jane’s, bringing the same care, pride, and commitment to every place he tended.

Known for his willingness to help anyone with anything, John was the kind of person who showed up no matter what the weather, the hour, or the task. He was happiest outside, surrounded by nature, and especially cherished time spent hunting and being at the Cabin, a place that became a cornerstone of family memories. He also had a great sense of humor and was always joking, bringing laughter and lightness to everyone around him. His work ethic was unmatched, and he passed that trait proudly to his sons.

John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved nothing more than being with his family. He is survived by his sons Ryan (Sara), Sean (Jessica), and Kevin (Erica); grandchildren James, Maeve, Madeline, Adrianne, Zoe, John, Logan, Cullen, and Maddox.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 31, 2026, from 9:15 to 10:30 AM, at Saint Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, 4049 Hartley Ave, Easton, PA, followed by a Mass at 11:00 AM. The Finegan Funeral Home, of Easton, PA, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
