Leona E. Gentile Obituary

Leona E. (Campitelli) Gentile, 82, of Nazareth, Pennsylvania, passed away on April 14th, 2024.

Leona was born on January 16th, 1942, to the late Ralph and Mary (DiMuzio) Campitelli in Windber, Pennsylvania. She was the youngest of ten children. She had six sisters and three brothers.

While attending high school, Leona worked at the Bedford Springs Hotel. After graduating from Windber Area High School, she met and married Anthony Gentile. They decided to move from Windber to Hillside, New Jersey, where they had six children, five boys and one girl. Anthony and Leona eventually decided to move back to Pennsylvania, this time settling in Nazareth, where they lived out the remainder of their years.

While Leona never returned to work after marrying, she kept busy as a homemaker and mother, and later, as a grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved cooking and was passionate about living a very healthy lifestyle. She owned many, many cookbooks and spent many, many hours in the kitchen. Leona’s faith was also an integral part of her life, and she was a very devoted member of The Worldwide Church of God.

Leona was predeceased by her husband, Anthony; son, Mario; sisters, Rosalie, Eleanor, Joanne, Louise, and Virgina, and brothers, James, Carl, and John. She is survived by sister, Margaret Tenore; children, Dominick Gentile, Suzanne (David) Cole, Anthony (Jennifer) Gentile, Christopher (Maria) Gentile, and Louis (Judith) Gentile; grandchildren, Jessica (Christopher) Fromhartz, Matthew Inderwies, Rachel (Brian) Kung, Angela Gentile, Christopher Gentile, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Violet Fromhartz, Ryan Kung, Mariana Fromhartz, and Landon Kung.

A Viewing is scheduled for Saturday, April 20th, 2024, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM, at the Finegan Funeral Home, 4080 William Penn Highway, Easton, PA, with a Service to begin at 3:00 PM. The entombment will then be at the Northampton Memorial Shrine Mausoleum, Easton, PA, following the Viewing.
