Margaret “Peggy” Angelina Zarbatany, 81, formerly of Easton, Pennsylvania, a cherished wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on November 30, 2024. Born to Henry and Margaret Casella, Peggy was a beloved sister to Charles Casella of Palmer Township, PA, Georgianne Casella of Bethlehem, PA, Joseph Casella and his wife Ruth of Hawley, PA, and Henry Casella Jr. and his wife Julie of Wilson, PA. Peggy was pre-deceased by her sister-in-law Rose Marie Casella.
Peggy was the devoted wife of John Zarbatany, with whom she shared a life filled with love and joy. Together, they raised three wonderful daughters: Kim Charles and her husband Michael of Nazareth, PA, Taryn Shaheen and her husband James of Coopersburg, PA, and Traci Cyr and her husband Lewis of Coopersburg, PA. Peggy’s legacy of love and kindness lives on through her eight grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life: James and Philip Shaheen, Riley Surovy and her husband Zach, Jenny Charles, Sydney Slone and her husband Evan, Jenna, Luke and Jack Cyr.
Peggy’s life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family and her community. Her warmth, generosity, and gentle spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. She spent much of her free time cooking and baking for those in need. She will be remembered for her compassionate nature and her ability to bring people together with her infectious smile and kind heart.
Peggy loved to cook and was known as the “hostess extraordinaire” when hosting her many gatherings for friends and family. She was an avid volunteer for her church, St. Anthony’s of Padua of Easton, PA, in which she helped organize the yearly church festival for 20 plus years as well as volunteering to count on Mondays for many years. She was also a member of the Old Timers Social Group at Sacred Heart Church of Bethlehem. She enjoyed shopping for bargains. She considered herself an entrepreneur with her yearly garage sales for forty plus years. In this time of sorrow, Peggy’s family finds comfort in the countless memories they shared with her and the enduring love she bestowed upon them. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those she loved.
Viewing hours will be held on Thursday December 5, 2024 from 6 to 8 pm at The Finegan Funeral Home, 4080 William Penn Highway, Easton, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday December 6, 2024 at 10 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 9th and Lehigh Sts., Easton, Pa.
