Nelson Sanabria Obituary

Nelson Sanabria, 64, of Brooklyn, New York, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Anderson Campus, in Easton, Pennsylvania. Born on August 27, 1960, Nelson made his home in Easton for 55 years, where he created a life full of love, laughter, and music.

He was the cherished son of Ramon and Julia Sanabria of Easton. Nelson is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Raquel Rodriguez-Sanabria, whom he affectionately called his “honacíon”, a term of endearment that spoke volumes about their love and bond.

He is also survived by his siblings: Raymond (husband of Wanda), Nelly, Judith, Noemi, and Lourdes (wife of Adrian); his sisters-in-law: Dalynn, Josie (wife of Edwing), and Mitzi (wife of Orlando); and his brother-in-law, Gilbert (husband of Carmen). Nelson was a proud uncle to numerous nieces and nephews who will carry his memory with them always. He was preceded in death by his dear brother, Ismael Sanabria.

Nelson graduated from Wilson High School in 1978 and worked for many years as a skilled automotive transmission mechanic. But beyond his work, it was his passions that truly defined him. He had a deep love for rock and roll music and found joy in collecting die-cast cars and electric guitars. He shared his musical talents as a guitarist in the band Fusion, and as a bassist in Los Valentinos, the band led by his father.

Nelson treasured time spent with his two lifelong friends, Robert Troxell and Ron Carlson, who were more like brothers than friends. Their bond was a testament to the kind of man Nelson was — loyal, warm-hearted, and unforgettable.

Those who knew Nelson will remember not only his talents and humor but also his signature phrases that brought smiles to their faces:

  • “What’s going on over there?”
  • “I’ll take care of it.”

And, perhaps most tenderly, the one reserved for Raquel:

  • “Easy, Sparky.”
