Philip J. Davenport Obituary

Philip John Davenport, 72, of Williams Township, PA, passed away suddenly, after battling a brief illness, on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.

Born on October 23, 1951, in White House, NJ, he was the son of the late John and Doris (LaTourette) Davenport.

Philip enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at the age of seventeen and served as a helicopter door gunner in Vietnam. After serving honorably, Philip worked as a plant operator for the Middlesex Water Company for thirty-five years, was a licensed pilot and, as a certified scuba diver, helped local fire departments and water recovery units in their efforts throughout parts of New Jersey and the Lehigh Valley. Philip was a good soul who would go out of his way to help anyone in need, due to this he was given the unofficial title of “mayor” of his neighborhood. Philip loved wildlife and worked diligently to make sure his property was welcoming to all the local flora and fauna, but most of all he loved his dog, Samantha.

Philip is survived by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Barbara A. (Adamski) Davenport and his daughter, Tammy Schellhorn and her husband, Jeffrey, also of Williams Township, PA.

Services are to be held privately at a later date. The Finegan Funeral Home of Easton, PA, has been entrusted with the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation, in Philip’s name, to the National Wildlife Federation, via nwf.org/donate.
