Joyce P. Hanlon Obituary

Mrs. Romaine Biedlingmaier, wife of the late Easton Oral Surgeon, Dr. Paul P. Biedlingmaier, died Sunday, September 8th, at Country Meadows of Forks Township.  She was 99 years young.  Born in Scranton, PA, on June 6, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Adolph Lenherr and Anna (Steinmetz) Lenherr. 

Romaine was a graduate of St. Mary of the Assumption Parochial School and the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Scranton.  She was a member of the United States Army Cadet Corps and served at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD, where upon graduation, she accepted a Head Nurse position at the Wilmer Eye Institute.  Mrs. Biedlingmaier remained active in the nursing profession until her marriage in 1952 and provided nursing support to her husband’s Oral Surgery practice. 

She was an active member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church (Our Lady of Mercy), serving as President of the Altar and Rosary Society and the Parochial School library program.  At the time of her death, Romaine was a member of the Our Lady of Mercy Parish in Easton.  Active in local community and volunteer activities, she was a member of the Easton Hospital Junior Auxiliary, Children’s Home of Easton, the Pomfret Club and the URW Women’s Club. 

She is survived by her three children, Amy (Ann Marie) Brown of Wyomissing, PA; Paul Jr., of Easton, PA; and, Mark of Venice, Florida; her sister, Florence Sakovich of Scranton; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and several cherished nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by a son, Ronald; son-in-law, Ronald Brown; grand-daughter, Regan Louise Biedlingmaier, and her sister Marie Redding. 

A viewing will be held on Sunday, September 15th, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Finegan Funeral Home, 4080 William Penn Highway in Easton, PA.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Monday, September 16th at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, 132 South 5th Street, Easton, by Pastor Keith Laskowski, preceded by a viewing from 9:30 am to 10:15 am.  Interment will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem Township.   In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Our Lady of Mercy Parish in Romaine’s memory or to the Allentown Diocese Legacy Society.
