Veronica T. Lapka

Veronica T. Lapka Obituary
7/20/1961 – 1/24/2026

Veronica Theresa Lapka, left our lives on Saturday, January 24th, 2026. She was
born July 20, 1961 in Jersey City, New Jersey to William J. Rush and Veronica
(Hoy) Rush. She was the eighth of ten children. She had four sisters: Trisha
(Predeceased on 12/19/22), Susan Cavaliere, Gina Herzfeld, and Peggi Clemson
and five brothers: Billy, Peter, Patrick, James and Tommy Rush.

Veronica was married to Edward Lapka, and they had one son, Mitchell Lapka. She
was a loving aunt to 19 nieces and nephews, and 15 great nieces and nephews, who
will dearly miss her beautiful personality, and everloving presence in their lives.

She was known for her incredible vocabulary and keen intellect, with a smile that
could light up a room, and an incredible sense of humor which accompanied her
sharp wit. Roni was born to protect and love others, and would leave a lasting
impact on anyone that she came in contact with, no matter the length of time. In
her career, she spent over 30 years working in customer service management.
There was never a customer or client she couldn’t reason with or a dispute she
couldn’t solve. She had such a way with words that could convince or calm almost
anyone. Her tenacity and kindness showed through the fierce love that she had for
her son and husband, and her constant focus on giving back through charitable
means. Any chance she got, Roni always jumped to help others who were in need.

Roni’s strong will and determination showed even in the final year of her life,
where she took on and beat stage 1 uterine cancer while also living with
early-onset dementia, and other health issues, which had restricted her ability to
live life the way she wanted. Even until the very end, her love for her family and
will to keep going shined so brightly. She will be missed immeasurably and we are
all blessed because we knew and were loved by her very much.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date in the springtime, which anybody
will be welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, any donations can be made to the
Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, which can help to further their mission of
funding research for a cure and providing care for families of patients afflicted with
this debilitating disease.
